Leica M9 Review.

I dont shoot Leica and Im not to sure how practical a digital range finder would be but this camera seem like a really good camera its just a little exspensive. Here ar some of the upgrades Leica has made since the last camera the M8 ,: 1) full-frame sensor; 2) no UV/IR filter needed; 3) quieter shutter; 4) easier access to ISO adjustments; 5) lower incidence of noise. The main reason Leica made a digital range finder is because they feel it is a more discreate yet high end camera. Read more on this article at PDN.

Big production lighting

Video production presents a growing business opportunity for still photographers, as video and still camera technology converges and clients begin to combine the two types of production to create cross-platform campaigns and cut costs. Weather you shoot video or still images you need to know how to light the set properly, f
ortunately for photographers, lighting techniques for still and video are similar. It really depends on what you want to get across to your viewer and how much you can spend. Read more about this and learn some lighting techniques here at Jeffrey L Brown.

Updating my Flickr.

04chrome

Today I scanned in some old chrome 4x5 film positives and I put them on my flickr. I really like chrome film and how it is a positive instead of a negative after you develop the film. I hope to use more of this kind of film in the future

Have you seen Red

Cult camcorder manufacturer Red finally took the wraps off a new product it had been teasing on its website and in online forums for weeks a multi-purpose hybrid camcorder/digital SLR that lets the user create their own custom imaging device based around Red's sensors. This might be kinda cool considering what the camera can do, I don't have the money to buy that camera but I still think the company is amazing because it is a fully customizable camera all the way down to your sensor size.read more on this article at Pdn.com.

Nicola Carignani Fashion.

Philip Toledano

I found this guy awhile back while I was reading a article about photoshop I really liked how complicated yet simple his work seemed. I decided to do some research on him and I found his website that showcase his portfolio and side projects some of his stuff is strange and some of it is really interesting. He is a really remarble photographer who puts a lot of thought in to what he wants to get across to the viewer. Find more about him and his works here and here.

Whats in the bag

Now I am not really all that in to fashion photography but I thought this video was kind of interesting because it shows what this photographer uses on a daily bases and what techniques work for her. If your interested in seeing any of her images look here and to find other videos look here.

Canon Eos 7d camera review

When this camera first came out I was abit skeptical about it, I didnt think it was a whole lot differnt than the 50d and was wondering why canon didnt go with the full frame censor for the 7d. However there are some verynice fetures to this camera such as it shotts 8 frames a second and is a 18 mega pixel camera. It is my personal opion that this camera combied with canon l series lens would be a grate combination for any photographer. find this video and other here

Looking at lenses!

I'm not sure when I will be able to get any new equipment or how much I will be able to get but I do know I would like to get a new lens at least one that goes down to 2.8 or 1.4 F-stop. That way Ill be able to have a grater depth of field and also be able to shoot in low light situations. I shoot Canon and they have a wide variety of lens that open to 2.8 the one I am most considering is the 24-70 2.8 I think it will be a good mid range lens for journalism or portraits. To find this lens and others click here

Who shot rock and roll ?

This is a photography exhibition opening today in Brooklyn New York at the Brooklyn museum. The exabition shocase some of the finest colabration between musicans and photographers. Michael Lavine's , Storm Thorgerson and Ian Dickerson are just a couple of photographers exhibiting there. Opening night there will be a concert with Blondie. Needless to say this would be an awsome event to go and see and it makes me wish I lived in New York. To read more on this article click here.

Happy Halloween!

Since its Halloween I thought scary pictures were appropriate. I just happened to find this photographer Danny Treacy he is a London based photographer he is definitely good at capturing the creepy felling or lonely felling with his photography.

Behind the secane with Silversun Pickups

When L.A based band silversun pickups and director Emmet Malloy made this video thats just what they were doing. To see the full video and other videos from sspu click here, you can also click here

Edward Burtynsky: Economies of Scale

Edward Burtynsky is a photojournalist that likes to consider the magnitude of human industry and its impact on the landscape. Often when he photographs something he focus in on the cultcher of the workers like coal miners, China factory works ect. Also he thinks about how the workers are being affected by their work and how the product is affecting the world. He believes once he has done this he can better frame his image. Canon G 10 Point and shoot

Canon G10 is a stellar camera when it comes to its size and what it can do. The camera shoots 14 mega pixels, has live view and low noise capabilities. In addition to that the camera also can do video and there are some lens accessories to increase the focal length not bad for a point and shoot.

Liquid Images HD350 Camera/Video Mask

I am a huge fan of gadgets, that being said I found this interesting scuba mask that allows you to do HD video and take pictures while your under water. The video camera can film at 30 frames per second in (1280-720) and the still camera shoots 5 mega pixel images. If you would like to read more about this you can find more info at PDN or if you want to own this gadget look here at B&H or at Liquid Images.

Canon has another new camera

Before you get to excited this is an article I read on canon rumors. That being said, canon is coming out with yet another camera but not in time for Christmas the release of the EOS 1DS Mark 4 will more than likely be in the spring. So what's the difference between the 1D and the 1DS well a lot the 1DS will have 32 mega pixel be video cable and have a high iso range, full frame and shoot 5 frames per second where as the 1d is 16 mp shoots an amazing 10 fps and is not full frame. Either way both camera are amazing and I look forward to seeing pictures of the actual camera.

Skating filmed with the 5D Mark II

Some of you know that I am really in to skating and that's why I though this was cool. Photography and skating go hand in hand because this sport doesn't get a lot of media coverage. If you want to see other videos or articles like this go to Roller News.

Canon 5D Mark II Firmware update 2010

Canon has announced an update for the firmware, meaning when you do video now you can film at 24-25 frames per second and still be at 1080 video. This is important because it will allow better quality if you do chose to do video. However if you don't the 5D Mark II can still shoot 21 mega pixel images. Canons New Camera.

I had talked about Canon celebrating their birthday by unveiling a new camera and they did. Canons new camera is called the 1D Mark 4. It is a 16 mega pixel camera and can do 10 frames per second which is really fast considering most camera do 3 fps. In addition to that the 1D mark 4 bosts a incredible iso form 50- 105,400 which is insane. This camera also does video, its a pritty amazing camera. Here is a link to the whole story and specs on the camera PDN

Apples new mouse

Apples magic mouse is kinda cool its wireless and has a seamless touch surface like on the iphone. Also it has a laser tracking engine, sounds complicated, it just means its more sensitive on more surfaces. I haven't used this mouse but I'm kinda interested to see if it makes photoshop easier or harder. Read more here at Apple

Portraiture Shoot tomarow morning.

portraiture low key shoot tomorrow, low key photography is when most of your subject or set is black. It gives your subject mater a mysterious feel. I am really siked about this shoot I think it should go well.

Jerry Uelsmann.

Uelsmann was a huge inspiration to me when I first got in to photography I really like the dream like feel he evokes. The interesting thing about him is he was doing modern day compositing in the darkroom! He is pritty remarkable. Here is a link to his website http://www.uelsmann.com/

Happy Early Birthday Canon.

Canon is throwing a big celebration to celebrate 50 years of camera making. This info comes from Canon Australia The event on the 20th of October in Australia is to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Canon SLR’s. I can’t think of a better way to start of 51 than with a new camera. I think that this is interesting because on http://www.canonrumors.com/ they have rumors speculating the release of two new cameras but the one everyone is talking about is 1d mark 4, this next week might be pretty exciting for canon users !
